Great South Run

This year's Great South Run is Sunday 26th October.

Taking part this year are charity chairman Les Oakley, Steve Gifford and Matthew Gifford.

"I'm running again in the Great South Run dressed as Mr Potato Head. The event is amazing and crowds line the whole course.

I'm raising money through my place of work, so, many thanks to all my clients again for their support of myositis.

My daughter was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis when she was 6 years old and is now 37, the exciting advances, collaboration of the doctors and their commitment to research drives me to continue to raise funds to support their efforts. In 1983 there was nothing and we knew very few, occasionally bumping into another parent in the corridors of the Hammersmith hospital. I do have a Just Giving page should you wish to donate to my run.

Steve & Matthew Gifford "TEAM GIFFORD"
Steve and Matthew Gifford are running in memory of their mother Lorna who passed away in August following a 10 year diagnosis of inclusion body myositis. Steve and Matthew will also be running with two other family members and collectively they form "Team Gifford".

Steve says, "Her health slowly deteriorated over the years until she passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Wisdom Hospice, after a brief spell in the Medway Maritime Hospital. Please donate as much as you feel appropriate to lend support to the charity and to assist with research into treatments for this condition."

Matthew says, "Spread the word on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to help me and 'Team Gifford' raise more funds our Great South Run 2014. Twitter @mattgiff2407 Instagram: @mattgiff2407 - Thank you once again for your time and your generosity from myself and all the members of 'TEAM GIFFORD'."
